Ep.10/ How to Free Up Some Brain Space, ASAP

TL:DR - The first two transformations are all about setting the mechanics of your day to day on autopilot. Get your environment right and you’ll free up energy for more important things.

Digestion = How the brain and body best receive and transform information

Environment = Putting yourself in the line of fire of synchronicity.

Digestion and environment are the two arrows on the left of the chart:

These arrows are all about the simple mechanics of how you run your life, so that you can free up your mind to do its correct job, which is observing the outside world, analyzing that information, and sharing the conclusions.

(Note that the incorrect use of your mind is to be micromanaging decisions about the mechanics of your life day to day — this is the role of the strategy and authority - listen to episode 4 and grab your HD Quick Start Guide to learn more about that)

Digestion is literal and figurative — what are you feeding yourself, are you giving your brain and body the correct information and fuel so that they can do their jobs correctly? This is less about the what, and more about the how

As you’re feeding your body and brain the right way with the best things for your system, you can also put yourself in the best environment for your system.

Being in the correct environment for your Design puts you in the way of synchronicity, so that your life can unfold with ease.

Being in the correct environment for your design puts you right in the line of what you’re meant to be seeing, hearing, tasting, touching, etc.

You can’t help but take in the information that you’re meant to be taking in and analyzing with your mind.

Note that environments can be literal, but they can also be figurative. There are aspects of each environment that you can bring into whatever space you happen to be living or working in.

There are six environments, each one split into two pairs, one that, when correctly applied, generates activity, and one that, when correctly applied, allows you to filter life as it shows up. Which one of the pair your environment is depends on the way the arrow is facing; if it is facing left, your best environment is the more active, if right, the more filtering, passive.

The six environments are:

  • Caves

    • Theme of safety and control.

    • Left pointing, optimally you are selective of who gets to be in your space

    • Right pointing, optimally you have an enclave in a larger space where activity is happening around you

  • Markets

    • The theme is that life happens at work!

    • Left facing, optimally you are able to bring the market flavor wherever you happen to be. You can work from home just as easily as at a coffee shop or an office.

    • Right facing, optimally you are in spaces where there’s already an exchange of goods and services happening (ex coffee shop that sells books or art or other wares)

  • Kitchens

    • Theme is alchemy

    • May also be places like: workshops or studios. Anywhere one material is being transformed into something new

    • If left facing, you do your best work in places that are humid

    • If right facing, you do your best work in places that are dry

    • Adding/removing water changes what’s possible for a material, or in a space

  • Mountains

    • Theme of being above things, seeing the world from a birds-eye view; how do all the pieces fit together?

    • If left facing, its optimal for you to be around folks who are also high achievers, who are also in the heights so to speak

    • If right facing, its important that you have time alone to observe, wander, and venture

  • Valleys

    • Theme of being connected to what’s going on with a clear view in every direction

    • If left facing, you need 1-1 interaction with folks, to be on the ground, on the floor, in the field

    • If right facing, optimally you’re able to be where the action is, and take in all of the activity

  • Shores

    • Theme of being open for folks to come to you

    • If left facing, optimally you would live in a place where there is a literal change in the environment; valley —> mountain, earth —> water, city —> valley, etc

    • If right facing, optimally you would drive in a place where there’s some sort of line or barrier that differentiates the space, particularly windows. IE a large studio apartment would not be ideal, but a house or one or two bedroom apartment would work better; balcony and windows are examples of ‘artificial shores’
